Day 7 :: Blissful Eating
Compliments of @goddex_era
When is the last time you ate something just because it tasted good?
When is the last time you stopped to really taste? Smell? Savour?
So many of us have a funny relationship with food – and with pleasure.
Necessary for life. A chore. A threat to be strictly controlled, counted, rationed.
Or what both food and pleasure really are: precious gifts from the divine, delivered right to us, every day.
A healthy diet of pleasure is just as important as a healthy diet of food.
So, for today’s pleasure practice, let’s be nourished by both!
What you’ll need:
- 4 bite-sized portions of something DELICIOUS – I recommend dark chocolate
- A quiet space where you can focus for 5-10 minutes
THE PRACTICE
- Bite 1 – Eat as normal.
- Bite 2 – Slow WAAAY down. Notice how the bite looks, feels, smells, tastes. Notice all the textures, aromas, flavours. Notice what feelings they bring up within you.
- Bite 3 – Repeat Bite 2, adding breath and movement. Take slow, deep breaths and follow the sensation to move as you feel even more deeply into each texture, aroma, taste.
- Bite 4 – Repeat Bite 3, adding sound along with breath and movement. Open your voice to express every lip-smacking ‘mmmmmmm,’ ‘yummm,’ ‘aaahhh’
What about you? Let me know in the comments what tasty treat is gracing your lips for this pleasure play.
